New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village Musicians’ Village, a cornerstone of the
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) post-Katrina rebuilding effort, is designed to both construct a community and preserve a culture. Conceived by New Orleans natives Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford Marsalis, Musicians’ Village will provide a home for both the artists who have defined the city’s culture and the sounds that have shaped the musical vernacular of the world.
HART Fund In 2001, The Blues Foundation established the HART Fund through which The Blues Foundation provides assistance to Blues musicians and their families in times of great financial need due to medical emergencies.
Donations to the HART Fund are dedicated 100% to artist relief efforts. Disbursements began in 2003 and have been used to pay medical bills, obtain needed medical care and assist with funeral expenses.
In late 2005, contributions were temporarily earmarked to provide some financial relief for blues musicians severly impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
Over the years, contributions have been made by our members and other donors and donations have also come from specific benefit events.

By L. Paul Mann, Noozhawk Contributor | Published on 09.22.2009
The blues genre was alive and well at the Santa Barbara Bowl on a sultry September Saturday night. A double bill of blues innovators Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal nearly filled the house.
A mostly mature crowd was anything but sedate as the audience responded with loud cheers, singing and dancing throughout the show.

Nearly 40 years ago, Bonnie Raitt opened up for Taj Mahal. Sunday night at Red Rocks, Taj returned the favor, in a sense. Not that either of them need much i...

Raitt rates multiple ovations at Tent
Raitt rates multiple ovations at Tent By Doug Fraser email@example.com
August 15, 2009
HYANNIS – If you were from Mars and had no idea why Bonnie Raitt sold multiple platinum records and had garnered nine Grammys, or why she sold out the Melody Tent almost as soon as tickets went on sale this spring, you only had to listen to her sing “Angel From Montgomery” at the tent last night.
Raitt’s voice is sure-footed. It can soar effortlessly and put emotion into even a spoken verse. It’s stripped-down, ...

Bonnie Raitt's blues act ages gracefully
Bonnie Raitt's blues act ages gracefully By Dave Tianen of the Journal Sentinel
Mar. 3, 2009
Later this year, Bonnie Raitt will turn 60. She has, indeed, become the kind of blues matriarch she has spent much of her professional life honoring.
Monday, she opened a two-night stand with Jonny Lang at the Northern Lights Theater. At one point in the middle of her set, she stopped for a few moments to reflect on the advantages and gifts of seniority. You're done struggling to establish a persona and you have the confidence ...

CHESAPEAKE - Singer Bonnie Raitt stopped in Hampton Roads this weekend, brought her act to a crowd in Portsmouth and left with about 600 gallons of soy bean juice.
That's how much biodiesel it took to fill up her fleet of two buses and three tractor-trailers at Domestic Fuels & Lubes in Chesapeake.
Green-minded entertainers are nothing new. Buddy Ivey, a sales manager for Domestic Fuels, said he gets about one call a month from travelin...

Crosby,Stills,Nash&Young return w a protest-heavy tour
By BEN WENER
Orange County Register
Let's not mince words.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young have reunited for their third tour this decade, having ended a decade-plus period of dormancy in late 1999 with the sweet, aptly titled album "Looking Forward."
This time out, however, the quartet of 60-somethings has rallied around a decidedly strident work, Young's "Living With War," easily the most bluntly outspoken response to the president and the Iraq war yet recorded. Slammed out in a six-day rage, the disc's nine straightforward anthems (and choir rendition of "America the Beautiful") ...

Raitt's concert something to talk about
JOSEF WOODARD, NEWS-PRESS CORRESPONDENT - February 16, 2006 11:55 AM
Catching Bonnie Raitt at the Arlington Theatre,as a full house did for a generous Valentine's Day concert of musical kindness, is bound to trigger nostalgia for some. Longtime locals will remember hearing her in this special venue, going back to the "prehistoric age" of the late 1970s, when she was a cult and critical favorite.
That was long before she became a "comeback" sensation and a representative voice for aging baby boomers with her late-blooming hit 1989 album "Nick of Time."
By this point, s...
