New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village Musicians’ Village, a cornerstone of the
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) post-Katrina rebuilding effort, is designed to both construct a community and preserve a culture. Conceived by New Orleans natives Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford Marsalis, Musicians’ Village will provide a home for both the artists who have defined the city’s culture and the sounds that have shaped the musical vernacular of the world.
HART Fund In 2001, The Blues Foundation established the HART Fund through which The Blues Foundation provides assistance to Blues musicians and their families in times of great financial need due to medical emergencies.
Donations to the HART Fund are dedicated 100% to artist relief efforts. Disbursements began in 2003 and have been used to pay medical bills, obtain needed medical care and assist with funeral expenses.
In late 2005, contributions were temporarily earmarked to provide some financial relief for blues musicians severly impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
Over the years, contributions have been made by our members and other donors and donations have also come from specific benefit events.

With this stepping stone toward success, the women will be able to support themselves and their families, and create stronger role models for future generations.
New Orleans Habitat for Humanity

To eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
New Orleans Musicians Clinic The Mission of the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation is to keep music alive by sustaining New Orleans musicians and tradition bearers in body, mind and spirit. We do this through providing access to health and social services through the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic, regardless of musicians’ ability to pay, and by fostering cultural opportunities that advocate for and support this effort.

_______________ 5 Living legend Bonnie Raitt slides into Vancouver
Bonnie Raitt wants to set the record straight. It seems somewhat unnecessary. When you have 10 Grammy Awards lined up in a row on your mantle and your most recent album Dig In Deep debuted at #10 on the Billboard Album Charts, does it matter if you get called a blues woman, folk rocker or roots artist or not? "My thing is probably as much R&B as it is blues or rock 'n' roll and I've never claimed anything about folk," said Raitt.

_______________ 7 Your Chicago Blues Festival must-see acts
Maybe it's because so many of the great blues performers have died, or maybe it's because the Chicago Blues Festival draws 500,000 people to Millennium Park no matter what happens, but the level of superstar headlining talent has dipped in recent years. In the old days, the Blues Festival snagged Bonnie Raitt in her prime or Ray Charles when he could headline arenas with no problem whatsoever.

_______________ 9 We asked Bobby Sweet: What's your favorite song?
Singer-songwriter Bobby Sweet's new Folk/Americana style has drawn comparisons to John Prine, Jackson Browne, Guy Clark and a countrified Bruce Springsteen. An engaging storyteller and dynamic entertainer, he is a sixth-generation musician who began his performing career in his father's band at age 7. We asked Sweet to share with us his personal playlist.

_______________ 10 The Last Word: Bonnie Raitt on Blues Heroes, Father John Misty, Trump 'Dismay'
Bonnie Raitt opens up about nature, Trump, her Quaker upbringing and why she loves Father John Misty in a candid Last Word interview.
